Shanahans Law offers a notary service if you require a Notary Public to witness or certify documents. As a Notary Public, we are authorised to witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, administer oaths and certify authenticity for legal documents for use overseas.

We use a seal to verify our presence at the time the documents were signed. When you come to see us, it is required that you have formal identification with you ideally, your passport or photo drivers license. If the document being notarised refers explicitly to a particular identity document, you will need to bring that with you.

Mary Anne Shanahan is a Notary Public. If you need to have a document notarised, please contact our reception on (09) 827 2783 to make an appointment. Please note that notary appointments are only available between 2:00pm and 2:30pm each day.


The minimum fee is $100 including GST, payable at the time of your appointment. Please note the fee may increase depending on what is required and the length of time of your appointment.


You will need to bring the following documents and information with you:

  • The original documents to be notarised
  • Your current passport for identification
  • Any special instructions for our Notary Public
